A little background on this picture and why it is my favorite. A few days before this event, I was the first Deputy to find the body of a three year old girl whose father had taken her all too soon. Then I was told that I would be attending this pro-police event. I wasn’t happy about being pulled from the street for a shift to attend. But I went. In the end I was very happy to have gone because it helped me heal. You can’t tell, but I’m fighting back tears as I am talking to this little girl and she tells me that she is three years old. This little girl will never know how much she helped me heal this old man’s heart. Seeing kids be kids and enjoying a beautiful day at the park went a long way to help me put behind the sadness that I had felt. So, this is my new favorite picture.

Because of this event my husband was approached by a young mother. She thanked him for saving her life and shared her story. If it weren't for this event she may not have had to opportunity to share with him and he may not have heard what I know he needed to hear. A simple "thank you" just doesn't seem to adequately represent the gratitude I hold in my heart. God bless you and yours.
